It was an historical event. Over 650 African American nurses gathered at the Live Casino Hotel in Hanover, Maryland July 11-17, 2021. I would speak at the Nursing Education Luncheon on July 16th.
After receiving the invitation from Nadirah Keith, I knew this was an opportunity of a lifetime and I did not hesitate to answer the call. At a time such as this, it was important for me to step to the lectern and speak to pressing issues affecting the African American nursing community. So, I did. In honor of the Chi Eta Phi pillars of COURAGE, HONOR. INNOVATION. I spoke to the affects of racism present, past and future.
